Lawrence up for defensive end of the year, honored by mid-season watch list

Boise State defensive end Demarcus Lawrence was one of 18 players named to the Ted Hendricks Award Mid-Season Watch List on Monday.

Lawrence currently ranks fourth in the country in sacks per game (1.06) and tackles-for-loss per game (1.63). The junior moved into the top 10 all-time at Boise State with a sack against Colorado State, giving him 18 total for his career in just 19 games.

The Hendricks Award is given annually to the top defensive end in college football. The honor recognized on-field performance, exceptional winning attitude, leadership abilities, contributions to school and community and academic preparedness.

The voting committee will narrow the list down to 4-6 players in the coming weeks. The 2013 winner will be announced on December 11.
