With the 2013 NFL Draft one week away, on Thursday, Mike Mayock of the NFL Network shared his thoughts about some of the prospects that hope to hear their names called at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
I was able to get his opinion on former Boise State runningback D.J. Harper, who Mayock was quite high on.
"The Harper kid I think is late draftable. I like him, but just because of that injury history and where he’s been, he’s kind of an interesting player."
"I think he’s one of those guys in this draft where you might get a bargain."
"He’s kind of got straight line speed. He doesn’t have make you miss kind of speed."
"He will play special teams, so he will be a late draftable or free agent, but I think teams are going to like him."
Harper’s injury-riddle past is clearly something that concerns NFL scouts. However, after suffering season-ending injuries in both 2009 and 2010, Harper rushed for 557 yards in a backup role as a junior in 2011, before leading Boise State with 1,137 rushing yards in 2012.
