MW releases 2013 football schedule, Boise State to play three Friday games

The Mountain West Conference released the home and away schedule for the 2013 football season on Thursday.

The Boise State football team will travel to play conference opponents Fresno State, Utah State, Colorado State and San Diego State this fall, while they will host Air Force, Nevada, Wyoming and New Mexico.

Along with the Broncos non-conference game at BYU, Boise State will play both Air Force and Fresno State on a Friday.

At the moment, all other games are slated for Saturdays.

Currently, the only kickoff time that has been announced is for the Broncos game against the Cougars.  The rest will be determined later this spring when the telecast schedule is finalized.

The 2013 league schedule will conclude on Sat., Dec. 7 with the inaugural Mountain West Football Championship Game at the home of the division winner with the highest BCS ranking.

- Seven of the 12 opponents Boise State will face next year had a winning record last season. Of those, six played in an FBS bowl game.
- Boise State’s 2013 opponents posted a combined 50.9% winning percentage¬†in 2012.
- With the Broncos set to play on at least three Fridays this fall, Boise State is 40-8 all-time in non-Saturday contests.
- The 2013 schedule is front loaded. Prior to November, the Broncos will play seven teams that finished 2012 above .500. In the final month of the regular season though, three of their four opponents finish 2012 at lead four games below .500.
