J.C. Percy named top 20 finalist for Lott IMPACT Trophy
Boise State senior linebacker J.C. Percy was named as one of the top 20 finalist for the Lott IMPACT Trophy on Tuesday, which is given to the top defensive player in collegiate football.
The Blackfoot-native is one of 11 linebackers in the country on the list and the only player from the Mountain West Conference.
The IMPACT Foundation recognizes the performance of a student athlete both on and off the field. It recognizes a defensive player who has truly made an IMPACT on their team.
Percy leads the Broncos with 60 tackles on the season, and is on pace for 111 - the most by a Boise State player in almost two decades.
Finally getting the chance to start as a senior, Percy has made the most of it. Prior to this season, the linebacker had one game of 10-or-more tackles in 40 career contests. He has three such performances through seven games in 2012.
Percy has also excelled in the classroom. The senior had been named to the all-conference academic team in each of the last three seasons.
The semi-finals for the award will be announced on Nov. 13 and the four finalist on Nov. 28. The winner of the trophy will be honored at the Ninth Annual Lott IMPACT Trophy Awards Ceremony in Newport Beach, California on Dec. 9.
