Boise State checks in at No. 24 in AP Top 25, ties season high
The Boise State football team returned to the Associated Press Top 25 on Sunday.
Following a 40-14 win over Southern Miss on the road, the Broncos checked in at No. 24.
This marks the fourth time Boise State has been included in the top 25 this season. In each and every other instance they have also been ranked No. 24.
The Broncos felt out of the rankings after losing to Michigan State in the season opener, then returned following their 39-12 victory over Miami (OH). They dropped out again after last week’s narrow 32-29 win over New Mexico, but 36 of the 60 AP voters placed Boise State on their ballots this week to get them back in.
Eight teams in last week’s top 25 lost on Saturday, including previously ranked No. 21 Nebraska (L, 63-38 vs No. 12 Ohio State), No. 23 Washington (L, 52-21 vs No. 2 Oregon), No. 24 Northwestern (L, 39-28) and No. 25 UCLA (L, 43-17 vs California).
The Broncos carry an overall record of 81-9 when they are ranked in either the coaches poll or Associated Press Top 25.
