Idaho head coach Robb Akey named Dominique Blackman starting quarterback for the Vandals on Monday. Blackman is a junior college transfer that sat out last season, but still beat out veteran Taylor Davis for the starting job. In the Vandals’ first two scrimmages of Fall camp, Blackman has completed 25-of-35 passes and not thrown an interception.
“It’s a blessing. It’s something I’ve been working for my whole life. To me, it’s just a blessing to have this opportunity. I have to take advantage of it. I knew it was going to be a competition. I knew from the day I set foot on campus,” Blackman said. “I’ve been told I was too big. I’ve been told I was too slow. I was too whatever. I just keep my mind positive and focus on the things that matter.”
